Trying to Do to All

God, the past couple of months have felt hard! Have you ever had that feeling where you have so much to work on that you don't know where to start? That's basically been my life for the past couple of months.
I don't intend for this post of be a negative dump as I'm aware that lots of people have much harder things going on in their life than I do and my situation is completely my own creation. But we're all allowed a little bit of wallowing time right? The best way I can describe it is that I felt like I was drowning in a life that I didn't plan for, but couldn't quite kick hard enough to get myself out.

The thing is, I wanted to work on so much this year that I found it hard to work on anything at all. My goals have been up and down but ultimately there hasn't been much progress. With the end of April approaching, making us 1/3 of the way through the year it's time to change how I'm doing things.

I'm all for living the YOLO life, but sometimes life isn't all cake and cocktails. Sometimes you have to deal with a few months of hard work and lack of fun to reach your goals and that's what I'm planning to do between now and summer (or until I reach my goals)

So, what will I be focussing on?

  1. Losing weight
  2. Clearing my debt and saving
That's all! Only 2 things that will literally change my life when I achieve them. It does mean though, that I will be putting other things on hold and focusing solely on these two goals.  I feel like trying to live my best life while working on these things hasn't worked, so now it's time to focus only on these things for a while.

The next few months may not be the most exciting, but the impact they will have on my life once I achieve some of the tougher goals I've been working on will be worth it a million times over.

Have you ever had these feelings? How did you manage them and get yourself back on track?

  1. I have been there! Wallowing away at my goals not being accomplished. Over thinking about it a lot and wanting my dreams to come true already! Thing is life it comes down to putting in the work. I have many ideas that I want to happen in my life and especially this year, but I think it is baby steps. Putting too much pressure on myself doesn't get me anywhere, it just gives me anxiety, pimples and a headache. I know to achieve what I want requires working hard, but I must try to not get overwhelmed and be hard on myself because it isn't happening yet. It will happen because I am determined about it, I just need to be patient and don't give up. Also meditation or prayer is great to clear the mind

    1. It's so tough sometimes isn't it, especially when your goals are big and they feel so far away. I'm setting myself mini goals to achieve on my way to my big goal. I'm going to write another post about it soon. We'll get there with our goals though!! :-)

  2. I have also been there! You get to include too much activities in your planner that you even never get time to do some of them...in fact, you even get bored and tired just before starting out with any of them. I did this before and quit! Well, it happens but the best thing is to always plan for little and accomplish them marvelously before moving on to the next task.

    1. I agree, my job is really busy and I feel like I'm so busy thinking about that, I never quite get to think about what I need to do for me. It's definitely time to reprioritise. Planning for little and accomplishing it is a great way to start and stay motivated! xx

  3. Must have been something in the air yesterday. I also put a grumpy post (or even massive rant!) on my blog!!! :P

As much as we love long lists, I definitely think focussing on just one or two things is the way to go. I also find breaking those into mini goals is helpful too. With my finances, I've set myself targets for one month, three months, six months, nine months, and 12 months. So far, I'm on track. :)

  8. Many of us tend to be too hard on ourselves. It's always important to slow down, take things one step at a time. Don't forget to practice self-care too.
